So, I’m forced into this late night post for several reasons.

1) My current roommate situation makes it impossible for me to go to sleep… ever.

2) I feel like the first time I did a post on this girl, she did not get near as much love as she deserves.

and

3) (MOST importantly) This song is not only highly addicting, but it’s also one of the most magnetically brilliant takes on Miike Snow that I have yet to hear.

Sky Ferreira—Animal (Miike Snow cover)

I remember way way back when Crookers released a beautifully remixed version of “Animal”, making everyone in the blogosphere do a “WTF” double-take. No one had heard of Miike Snow. No one knew where the hell this song came from. But everyone agreed it was fantastic. Now, over a year later, “Animal” remains a hot commodity for both DJ extraordinaires and the hip scenester kids who love them, and, thankfully, this version doesn’t taint the original, whatsoever. Granted, you probably won’t hear it spin at the hottest dance party in town or blast it, windows down, driving down the street, but you WILL listen to it when you need to go to sleep and paper thin walls don’t keep out the drunken noise level of kids under the age of 21 who are celebrating life in their first apartment (re: see point number 1). I never realized how emotional this song was until I heard Sky Ferreira—a 17-year-old with a voice to lust after—powerfully croon out the lyrics over simple piano chords. It’s stripped down, and it’s undeniably fabulous. Enjoy.
