This could be a complete stretch for me, because ever since SXSW took away that beautiful, alphabetical (never-ending) list of bands and stuck us with a venue list, I get very frustrated trying to scan through the pages and usually end up amateurly quitting. So, basically I just spent about 10 minutes trying to remember if Swedish duo, jj, was on that list, and since I’m about 82% sure that they were (and because they just released a really neat vid I wanted to share), I’m posting on them up here anyway.

Jj is comprised of Joakim Benon and Elin Kastlander, yet another pair of elusively electronic, bad ass Swedes who emerged on the scene early last year, making a name for themselves on the sub-levels of indie/electro pop (which is where everyone really wants to be, am I right?). The pair have an Air France meets Tough Alliance vibe layered with some seriously smokey vocals and a large propensity for taking on Lil Wayne. You think I’m joking, but for some reason the pair’s translation of some of Lil Weezy’s biggest hits (i.e. Lollipop) take on an ethereal and magical quality that completely blows my mind. (These takes include: Ecstasy, My Life, My Way, and possibly more). Their second full length album, jj no 3, is being released this March, and they take off on a US tour scheduled late that month (so cross your fingers they hit up Austin first) with the xx. (I can’t think of a good joke pertaining to the fact that the xx and jj are going on tour together besides something along the lines of squared lower-cases unite… sooooo *soft claps*). Anyway, below is there awesome new video and some kewl songs to listen to.
