Don’t let this dreary Austin weather get you down…IT’S THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEKEND! Well, for me it is, anyway. So whether or not you’re a bad ass going out tonight, I suggest listening to some of these super upbeat jams to get your day on track.

DELPHIC:

Delphic is a (surprise surprise) UK band who just released their debut album in January, and while they’ve had some jams out since last April, it’s their 3rd single, Doubt, that really makes me an advocate for their US infiltration. There’s just something about this electro-infused rock song. It might be the initially annoying yet growingly addicting 15 second intro, or perhaps it’s just the pop-dance-rock aura that the track exudes, but either way, I hope these kids make it stateside.

And besides the fact that it looks like a boy Sinead O’Connor and Bjork are serenading you, this video is crazy cool… cubes, spikes, and bubbles galore.

BREAKBOT:

Breakbot also comes from across the pond, but this Frenchman is dedicated to making electronic “breakbeat-oriented” music which ends up not necessarily as raving mad dance tunes, but as quality, sensual electronic jams. The “vocals” (if you can even call them that) in his song Please Don’t made the song seem like a Black Moth Super Rainbow over Daft Punk bass and Junior Boys track (but that’s just me). He got a lot of buzz around this time last year, but this song is still one of my faves.

BARRETSO AND KOLT13

And finally, coming (partially) back to our own hemisphere, a great tune of Chile resident, Barretso, was just recently remixed by one of MY favorites, Kolt13. Barretso has been getting some blog love recently with his EP release this month, and while his sound is definitely along the lines of Vega/Miami Horror with an double-shot of redline electro-synth, Kolt13 takes his single, Bright City Lights, and makes it a little more (sorry, but) bearable. Everything thing that this French kid has touched, I have absolutely fallen in love with, and his toned down yet still pop-ish take on Barretso’s single has been my jam for a while now.
