Apparently there is some “mystery” about who’s pulling the strings behind the AMAZING new sound that is Monarchy, and while the identity crisis is weirdly reminding me of what happened with the once-hyped Japanese Cartoon, I really don’t care in this case because the music is completely brilliant and entirely balls-to-the-walls danceable (which is all that really matters, am I right?!?). With their single set to be released in the coming weeks on one of my favorite labels from across the pond (Neon Gold), I predict that the music of Monarchy will quickly be disseminated across the dance clubs of Europe and (hopefully) America in 2k10. They are already blowing up the “blogosphere” with people raving about their pop synth disco sound, and it should be no time at all that we start receiving a plethora of bad ass remixes that their tunes will invite. This duo from South London has been compared (by Neon Gold) to Friendly Fires with some Royksopp synth washes and Timbaland drum loops thrown in, and (in my personal opinion) the vocals seem to be a Hot Chip/VEGA-esque fusion (but I might only be thinking this because these bands are the only three things I have been listening to for the last 72 hours). Anyway, check them out and dance your little hearts out.

Monarchy—Gold in the Fire <3

Monarchy—The Phoenix Alive

Monarchy—Black the Colour of My Heart

Monarchy—Gold in the Fire (Diamond Cut remix)

RANDOM SIDE NOTE:

-My first thought when looking at Monarchy’s myspace was that I had mistakenly stumbled on a new VEGA album. Monarchy artwork is the complimentary companion to VEGA artwork. They should be friends.
