Telephoned— the duo comprised of DJ Sammy Bananas and singer Maggie Horn— released their EP, Off the Hook, yesterday, and their tunes have already been on a pretty steady rotation in my apt, whether my roomies like it or not. I was drawn to this collab initially because I’m a secret sucker for top 40, dirty-dance-party hip hop (because, really, WHO ISN’T), but then it kept my interest by being something other than a run-of-the-mill cover or remix. It’s fresh. It’s addicting. It’s freaking danceable. Enjoy.
PS: The name comes from that awesomely annoying Telephone game that we used to play as kids… you know the one where “George Washington was the 1st President” turns into “Tommy peed his pants in Social Studies”… soooo clever. Immediate points.
