Reblogging this fabulous post on MISSIONS because my boy Glitoris did a superb job of describing exactly the way that I feel about this group. Definately an act to check out. Unfortunately I’m not in Austin to hear them tonight, but I suggest that you all head over to the Mohawk for the last dregs of free week. Also, just saw (via their myspace) that they will be playing a Knuckle Rumbler partay at the Independent on February 12th… already marked my calendar.
And for a special treat:
Dirty Projectors—Stillness is the Move (Missions rework)
TheGlitoris.com’s #1 band 2look4 in 2010 is @missionsinspace. Missions has become my Favorite, FAVORITE, Favorite, up-and-coming band to look for in 2010. The electro synth trio is comprised of Josh Mills (ex Clap! Clap!//vocals, synth, percussion), Markus Diffee (percussion, synth), & Amber Zook (synth). I first saw Missions play live about 4 or 5 months ago when they opened up for Junior Boys. Their Debut EP had a very soft promo release in late 2009, and are yet unsigned!!! The band reminds me of Passions, early Depeche Mode, & The Big Pink. Their dark disco sound gets that booty bouncin, shoulder swaying, shot takin’ pulse outcha damn ass. I can NOT express how good this band is live & strongly suggest you see them before they blow up bigtime. When a star explodes, it becomes a black hole – once upon a star, there was a fun 8 member band called “Clap! Clap!“. In 2005, MTVU recognized Clap! Clap! in a nationwide contest,“The Best Band on Campus”. MTVU listed the band amongst the top 10 in the nation. Unfortunately Clap! Clap! broke up in 2007.
Like the death of most bands, the best of the best are born. From Clap! Clap!’s dark hole came TheGlitoris.com’s #1 band 2look4 in 2010, Missions. I am so freaking thrilled to announce Missions is playing a show tonight, Saturday January 9th for FREEEEEEEE—- in celebration of “Free Week”. Please visit @glitoris ‘s favorite Party Blog www.ThePeenScene.com for show details. In the mean time, please download and enjoy this track “Darrk/Blakk” off their Debut EP. http://www.mediafire.com/?ynekmwmjmgi The lyrics, music & meaning of this song elicit a certain sexuality from within, something that needs to be expressed err now and then, glitoris-style.
